Terms of Service
The conditions governing your use of Québec 3D and the nature of the data presented.

These Terms are published in French and English. In case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.
01Purpose and acceptance
These terms of service (the “Terms”) govern the use of the Québec 3D website (the “Service”), an independent, non-commercial web visualization of Québec's LiDAR relief. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Service.
02Description of the service
The Service lets you navigate a map of Québec and explore its relief in three dimensions, directly in the browser. Québec 3D merely processes and presents open geospatial data: the LiDAR data of Québec, publicly available at https://www.donneesquebec.ca/recherche/dataset/donnees-lidar-du-quebec. The Service turns this data into elevation tiles for display purposes; it does not recompute or alter the original elevation values.
03Origin and licence of the data
The relief data comes from LiDAR surveys of Québec, produced and released by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests (MRNF) on Données Québec under an open licence. The Service provides a simple visual representation of it. The terms of use, extent and updates of this data are the responsibility of its distributor; the authoritative reference is the official dataset page: LiDAR data of Québec. For any use of the data beyond viewing it on this site, refer to the licence indicated there.
04Informational nature — not an official document
The Service is provided for information, education and exploration. The relief presented does not constitute an official document: it replaces neither a regulatory map (flood zones, constraints, zoning), nor a certified land survey, nor a geotechnical assessment, nor the opinion of the competent authorities. Any decision involving safety, compliance or construction must rely on official sources and qualified professionals.
05No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the data is accurate, complete, up to date, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, nor that the Service will be uninterrupted or defect-free. LiDAR coverage is partial, and some areas may be missing, dated or affected by processing artefacts.
06Limitation of liability
Québec 3D is not responsible for how users make use of the surveys and 3D relief viewed on the Service, nor for any interpretations, decisions or actions arising from them. To the extent permitted by law, the Service and its authors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damage resulting from access to the Service, its unavailability, or the use of the data presented on it. You use the Service at your own risk.
07Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service in accordance with applicable laws, and not to: attempt to disrupt its operation or security; extract its resources en masse through automated means in a way that would degrade its availability for others; or misrepresent it as an official source. The code and infrastructure of the Service may change without notice.
08Intellectual property
The relief data remains the property of the Government of Québec and is subject to its distribution licence. The presentation, interface, editorial texts (in particular the blog articles) and code of the Service belong to their respective authors. Trademarks and names mentioned belong to their holders. Nothing in these Terms transfers to you any rights over the source data, whose use is governed by its own licence.
09External links
The Service contains links to third-party sites, including Données Québec. These sites have their own terms and policies, over which we exercise no control and for which we are not responsible.
10Privacy
The Service is a static site: it requires no account and collects no personal data. The views you manipulate are computed locally in your browser and are not transmitted to an application server. The host may, like any web server, log usual technical data (IP address, browser type) for operational and security purposes.
11Changes to the Terms
We may modify these Terms to reflect changes in the Service or the applicable framework. The version published on this page, with its update date, is the version in force. By continuing to use the Service after a change, you accept the revised Terms.
12Governing law and language
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable in the province of Québec and in Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Service falls under the competent courts of Québec. These Terms are published in French and English; in case of any discrepancy between the two versions, the French version shall prevail.
